THE CHILD OF Prague is an important item in may Irish households.
Putting one out in the garden is said to ensure good weather, but that’s up for dispute – here’s one not doing its job at this year’s very rainy Electric Picnic:
Caroline Milne, originally from Limerick but now living in Artane, is a bit of a cake wizard, whipping up eerily lifelike bakes like this ‘chicken goujons and gravy’ effort.
For a friend’s birthday, she decided to create an extremely accurate Child of Prague out of cake and icing. Speaking to Dermot and Dave on Today FM last week, she said:
It’s actually a surprise 30th birthday cake for a friend who is “mildly obsessed” with the Child of Prague… [At] his sister’s wedding, the front garden and the back garden were infested with Children of Prague.
She finished it ahead of the weekend, and you must look at it. LOOK AT IT.
Here’s a close up of the details, which are really something to behold:
Thankfully, the cake survived the birthday party untouched and has now taken pride of place on the sideboard.
As it should. Art!
